“Curio”
Gabriella Quiroz
November 18th – January 11th
“Curio” is my attempt to showcase how I personally see that connection and make it “human.”
– Gabriella Quiroz
This show has built and expanded on Gabi’s love for finding meaning and beauty in the everyday and discarded. The stages of life and decay and how it progresses through time. The imagery is a brief capture of time and space. Highlighting the fleeting moment. Using bones, flowers, and gifts from the natural world- to relate to how we may feel. We are a part of the cycle of life- we are not a separate entity. Yet so often the world and its inhabitants are treated as such. We are all connected to the wheel of time- no one/ thing is immune.
Gabriella Quiroz is an Omaha-based artist. Her work has been featured in numerous group showings throughout the city of Omaha and its surrounding areas. Gabi works primarily in oil paints and colored pencils developing works of symbolic imagery through flora and fauna.
While she notes her education in the arts to have begun from a very young age, her formal education took its roots at the University of Nebraska Omaha. Here she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a minor in Art History. Throughout her term of study here Gabi was awarded multiple scholarships and recognitions for her work.
Today her work continues to involve these subjects heavily and as a result it is expanding into exploring more with these mediums.
Please stop by her studio and say hello at the Hot Shops Art Center studio #203.
