Patricia Velazquez-Dunn (New to 2024)
During Patricia’s residencies, participants explore regional dances, folk dances, castanets, Spanish ballet, and Flamenco. She teaches students about how all of these styles fit in with Spanish history and culture, and how Spanish dance is different from Mexican Folkloric dances. Patricia brings over 30 years of dancing and 11 years teaching experience to engage participants of all ages in a variety of settings. She works with educators to customize school projects and choreography for specific programs that highlight Spanish dance.
Born in California, Patricia has studied dance with notable teachers in Santa Barbara and the LA area. She has also trained in Phoenix, Albuquerque, and Spain through workshops, festivals, and summer courses. Over the past 15 years Patricia has dedicated her time to building a foundation for sharing her knowledge of Spanish Folk Dance and Flamenco in the Omaha community through teaching and performing. Patricia is founder and director of the dance organization, Flamenco Omaha.
