Marya Lucca-Thyberg
Marya Lucca-Thyberg thrives on creating theatre in any environment. As a freelance director and designer, teaching artist and certified theatre teacher she can work with all ages K-adult in elementary and secondary schools, community or professional settings. Directing and performance may be the focus of her residency activities, but she also loves to teach participants about costume, make-up design and scenic painting.
Whether collaborating on a new script, interpreting a classic or using Boal’s Forum theatre techniques to develop issue-based theatre, Marya embraces the challenge to find and tell the stories of our lives. She received a MFA in directing from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln and a BFA in Theatre Education and Music Education from the University of South Dakota.
