LaTryce Anderson
During LaTryce’s residencies, she explores hip-hop and contemporary dance with participants. When working with preschool, pre-kindergarten, and kindergarten groups, she focuses on movement exploration. By asking young students, “What can our bodies do?” she helps them learn to make shapes, numbers and letters with their movements. LaTryce teaches the elements of dance by leading her students physically through time, space, energy, and motion. She introduces them to a brief history of hip hop dance, and they learn a short a dance piece to kid-friendly, upbeat songs. Grade school students will get a more in-depth explanation of the elements of dance while physically going through them. LaTryce discusses the origins of hip hop dance, why we do it, how we do it and where it all began. Students then learn a dance to personally understand the genre.
LaTryce also enjoys working with adults and seniors through a fun funk dance classes. She and participants all move and groove to great hits from ‘way back when.’ LaTryce focuses on quality of life with adult and senior groups, recognizing that as people slow down in life, stress often occupies the mind. LaTryce’s activities are designed to help them to feel beautiful and alive again. LaTryce can modify all of her residencies to suit the needs of the participants, tailoring activities to each group. She is happy to adapt activities for groups with special needs or physical limitations.
