Printmaking

Cindy McClellan teaches three different printmaking techniques in her Creative Aging Arts Program residencies. These include mono-printing, gel-printing plate printing, and linoleum block printing with a focus on creativity, hands-on experience, and community building.

By learning these three methods, students will experience a spectrum of approaches within printmaking—from the intuitive and spontaneous to the methodical and deliberate. Monoprinting and gel plate printing encourage playful exploration of color and texture, while linocut emphasizes design, carving, and repetition. Starting with monoprinting allows students to learn printing terminology and the basics of using the tools. Together, these techniques provide a well-rounded foundation for understanding printmaking as both a technical and expressive art form.
