More Details
The LUX Center for the Arts is a community art center that is interested in bringing a variety of engaging exhibitions to Lincoln. We have two professional gallery spaces for the showcasing of individual and group shows. Our gallery spaces are always free to the public and open from 10am until 5pm Tuesday through Saturday weekly, and from 5pm to 8pm on First Fridays.
Our mission is to enhance artistic engagement in the broader community through arts education, community events and art experiences. Our gallery spaces play a critical role in providing opportunities to bring the public into contact with contemporary artists, increase arts literacy and showcase a variety of artistic narratives.
Annual Exhibitions Open Call:
Each year the LUX opens up the opportunity for artists to submit exhibition proposals for review. A group of selected jurors from the staff, committee and community, will review all applications and proposals.
Selected artists will be contacted to discuss timing and details of their potential inclusion. Artists may be selected to show their work as an individual artist, or may be contacted to show their work in a group show with other selected artists.
It is the goal of the exhibitions jury to put together engaging exhibitions programming for each portion of the programming calendar. Selection of artists takes many factors into account, including theme, content, media, skill level, strategic planning focus areas, community engagement opportunities, programming overlap and other factors.
